Siman 654 – Replacing the Lulav in water on Yom Tov

  1. A woman is not obligated in the mitzva of Lulav. Nevertheless, she may choose to do the mitzva and even recite a beracha. (MB )
  2. The minim in the bundle are muktza on Shabbos. (MB )
  3. Good conduct is to keep the lulav and aravos in water so they won’t dry out. (MB )
  4. On Yom Tov, you may return the Lulav to the same water that it was taken from, but you may not replace the water. (ShA)
  5. On Chol Hamoed, there is a mitzva to replace the water in order to keep the lulav moist and beautiful. (ShA)
  6. There is a minhag to take a new arava and tie it to the outside of the bundle every day during Chol Hamoed because of hiddur mitzva. (Rama)
