  1. If you are used to an afternoon nap, enjoy it for oneg Shabbos. However, do not overindulge – it’s bittul Torah. Also do not say, “Let’s go to sleep so we can stay up late Motzo'ay Shabbos doing melacha”. (Rama 1 – MB 3,4)

  1. When the learning is continuing nicely on Shabbos afternoon, it is public bittul Torah to stop it and get people to daaven Mincha and Shalosh Seudos if there is still time. Only if time is running out, is it a mitzva to stop the learning. The drasha should not impinge upon the mitzva of Shalosh Seudos. (MB 8)
  1. The obligation to toil in Torah on Shabbos is greater for workers not involved in learning during the week. People who experience the enjoyment of toiling in Torah during the week may enjoy eating and drinking more on Shabbos.
