- You are allowed to fashion wicks on C.H. – it is considered maaseh hediot. (Rama – MB )
- Ironing clothing to be worn on C.H. is permitted, but making new folds, such as pleats in a skirt, is prohibited since skilled work is involved. Having clothing pressed by a professional presser is prohibited for the same reason. (ShA – MB )
- The hetter of dovor ho’ovayd does not cover saving from slight damage. Therefore, mending your clothes and shoes is not allowed on C.H. unless they will otherwise completely fall apart. Even then, if you have clothes and/or shoes to wear that are in order, dovor ho’ovayd does not justify fixing and wearing the ones that need mending. (ShA – MB )
