- Begin searching for chometz immediately after nightfall of the 14th of Nissan, while there is still some daylight in the sky. (MB )
- Do not begin any activities within a half hour before the time of bedika. (ShA — MB )
- Do not eat a meal (more than a kebaytza of bread) before bedika. Once the time arrives to search, it is improper even to spend time eating fruit. (ShA — MB )
- Do not even learn Torah once the time of bedika comes. Some poskim prohibit learning even within a half hour of the bedika unless you request someone to remind you when the time arrives. (ShA — MB )
- You are allowed to attend a shiur in shul after Maariv unless it is a pilpul shiur. (MB )
- Daaven Maariv before the bedika. (MB )
