- We read from parshas Acharay Mos. Whoever is upset about the death of Aharon’s sons and sheds tears for them gets his sins forgiven and his own sons will not die in his lifetime. The main point of the kriah is to be inspired to do teshuva. (MB )
- If there will be a Bris Mila in shul it is best to be performed after Krias Hatorah before Ashray. If the bris will be out of shul, make sure to put away the sifray Torah before leaving. (ShA – MB )
- Use a cup of wine for the beracha of “…asher kiddash yedid mibetten…”. Do not say Hagoffen (unless an adult choleh will be drinking it) but put some extra drops of the wine into the baby’s mouth after the beracha. (ShA – MB , )
- At Musaf, the Seder Avoda is recited. (ShA )
- The kahal bows down face to the floor at “…v’hacohanim v’ho’am…” and by Olaynu L’shabayach. The chazzan should have a portable shtender to be able to move away for bowing (instead of walking to where there is room). (Rama – MB )
- Spread something on the stone floor so as to separate between your face and the floor – even your tallis will do. (MB )
- The order of the viduy is: “Chatosi (mistaken) Ovissi (intentional) Poshati (rebellious)” from lightest to most severe. (ShA – MB )
- The deceased achieve atonement on Yom Kippur when you pledge tzedoka on their behalf and you mention their name at Yizkor. (ShA – MB )
