- It is forbidden to launder on the Moed even if you need it. This is to ensure that you do not come into Yom Tov looking dishevelled, expecting to launder on Chol Hamoed. (ShA – MB )
- These days, the custom is to switch used hand towels for Shabbos. (MB )
- Children’s clothes can be laundered normally with detergent. Laundering older children’s clothes (by hand) should be limited to only one change at a time. The laundering should be done in private. (ShA )
- In general, anything that is forbidden on the Moed is forbidden likewise by employing a gentile. (MB )
- Although we are not allowed to take any broken items to a craftsman on Chol Hamoed, we are allowed to pick up fixed items that will be used on the Moed – like dishes, pillows, and blankets. (ShA – MB )
- Picking up items that are not for the Moed is forbidden because of tircha. Also, people will suspect that you gave them in to be fixed on the Moed. An exception to this would be a mitzva item being picked up from a non-Jewish craftsman. (ShA – MB )
