Siman 440 – A Gentile’s Chometz

  1. If a goy deposits chometz in a Jew’s house for Pesach, as long as the Jew is not responsible for it, he will not be obligated to destroy the chometz. Lechatchila it should not be accepted by the Jew on Pesach. (ShA MB )
  1. You must put such chometz behind a mechitza ten tefachim high (a curtain is not secure enough) so you do not forget and eat it. (ShA MB )
  1. If a goy enters a Jew’s house holding his own chometz, the Jew does not transgress anything even though he sees chometz in his house. Just do not eat with the goy on the same table at the same time. (ShA )
  1. If, however, you are not eating, you may allow the goy to use your Pesach table to eat his chometz. Just be sure to clean the table afterwards and to rinse it well from any crumbs. (MB )
