You aren’t allowed to light a new fire using any method on Yom Tov. If you did, bedeived you can use the fire. (ShA 1 – MB 4)
Scraping a match along a hot metal is not allowed, However, if there is a burning hot coal you are allowed to touch the match to it even if the coal is dim. (MB 4)
Do not use a billows on Yom Tov. However, you may fan the flames with a cloth or feather fan. (ShA 1 – MB 6)
You are allowed to put a skewer of meat directly on coals on Yom Tov even though it will extinguish them. It is considered l’tzorech ochel nefesh. (MB 10)
When arranging a fire, you may take wood that is already on fire and lay it on the other side of the fire. Although it extinguishes a bit, that is not your intention. (Rama 2 – MB 19)
When cooking is done, let the wood continue to burn out. (MB 20)
Wood can be carried and used for fueling fire but nothing else. (MB 21)
