- The minhag in Vilna among many other places is to begin the availus on the first day of Rosh Chodesh Iyar. This availus also goes for 33 days until the morning of the 3rd of Sivan. (Rama — MB , )
- Every city should follow its minhag — just stick to one minhag. Two different minhagim of availus in one city is a transgression of Lo Tisgod’du. (Rama — MB )
