- One who is not intrinsically obligated in shofar cannot motzi another who is. For example: A deaf man. A minor. A woman. (ShA , , – MB )
- A thirteen year old boy who has not shown two pubic hairs cannot yet exempt others.(MB )
- A deaf man that can hear through a hearing-horn is obligated in shofar. (MB )
- Although women are exempt from shofar, they may blow the shofar on Rosh Hashana. A man who has already fulfilled his obligation may likewise blow shofar for women. (ShA )
- The custom is that women say a beracha before performing a time-bound mitzvah. (Rama )
- Don’t blow the shofar privately within the first three hours of the day. (MB )
- When blowing shofar for women after you have been yotzay in shul, don’t say a beracha for them, unless a man who has not fulfilled his obligation is also present. Otherwise, the women should say their own beracha. (Rama – MB )
- The blower must have specific intent to motzi any listener. The listener must also have in mind to fulfill the mitzva. (ShA )
- A Baal Tokaya in shul has in mind to motzi anyone who may be listening. (ShA )
