  1. L’chatchila, don’t follow the minhag to blow the tekios during the silent Shemoneh Esray because it disturbs the people who are daavening. (MB )
  1. The chazzan repeats the tefilla and the tekios are blown after Malchios, Zichronos and Shofros. The best way is to blow t.shr.t, t.sh.t, and t.r.t . after each of the above three. (ShA MB )
  1. After each set of tekios say: “Hayom horas olam…” and “Areshes…”. Even on Shabbos say “Hayom horas olam…” but not “Areshes…’ (Rama )
  1. A person daavening by himself should hear tekios before daavening Musaf and no further tekios are needed. (Rama )
  1. Since the Baal Tokaya says the berachos of hearing the shofar for everyone, it is as if the listener has said the berachos himself. Therefore, no one should talk between the berachos and the tekios nor between the tekiyos themselves. Don’t even say the tefillos printed in the machzor between the tekios demeyushav – just think them or say them after the tekios demeyushav. (ShA MB , )
  1. In between the tekios you are allowed to talk about the topic of the tekios or the tefillos. (Rama )
  1. If you spoke of other topics. you do not need to say another beracha on hearing the shofar. (Rama )
  1. Since you need to hear the entire sound emanating from the shofar, you mustn’t spit, yawn aloud, or clear your throat during the tekios. (MB )
