Who we are
Mishna Berura Summaries publishes English summaries of the Mishna Berura at mishnaberurasummaries.com. The site is operated from South Africa and hosted by xneelo. Print access is sold by Rebbe’s Mussar Stories (United States), which is the seller of record for any purchase made through this site.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — for example which simanim are read most, and whether people find what they are looking for. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects:
- pages you visit and how long you spend on them
- approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address — not your precise location)
- device, browser and operating system
- how you arrived at the site (for example a search engine or a direct link)
- search terms you enter into the site’s search box
This is aggregate, statistical information. We do not use it to identify individual people, and we do not attempt to link it to your name.
Server logs
Like nearly all websites, our host keeps standard server logs of requests, which include IP addresses. These are used for security and for diagnosing technical problems.
Access to the print tool
The print selector is a restricted page. If you unlock it, your browser stores a cookie so that you are not asked again on every visit. That cookie records only that access was granted.
Payments
Reading the site is free. If you choose to buy print access, the payment is handled entirely by Stripe on their own secure checkout page. Your card details are never sent to, seen by, or stored on this site.
Stripe collects and processes the information needed to take the payment, including your card details, email address and billing information, under Stripe’s privacy policy.
What we receive and keep is limited to:
- your email address,
- the amount paid and the currency,
- a reference for the transaction, and the date.
We use this only to give you access to the print tool and to restore that access if you ask us to. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not share it.
What we do not collect
- We do not offer visitor accounts, and the site has no comments section.
- We do not run a mailing list, and we do not ask for your email address to read the content.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
- We do not show advertising, and we do not run advertising trackers.
Cookies we use
- Google Analytics cookies — measure site usage as described above.
- Access cookie — remembers that you have unlocked the print tool.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site’s content will still work normally if you do. Google also offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics across all sites.
Who else sees this information
Analytics data is processed by Google, under Google’s privacy policy. Payments are processed by Stripe, under Stripe’s privacy policy. Server logs sit with our hosting provider. We do not pass your information to anyone else.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for the limited retention period configured in Google Analytics and is then deleted automatically. Server logs are kept on the normal rotation set by our host.
Children
This site is a Torah learning resource intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not hold accounts or a contact database, we generally hold no personal information that could identify you. If you believe we hold information about you and you would like to ask about it, correct it, or have it deleted, please contact us using the address below and we will do our best to assist.
