- At Mincha, begin with Ashray and U’va L’tzion. Then say Kaddish and then “Va’ani s’filasi…”, partly because it’s time for Krias Hatorah. (This is why it is omitted on Yom Tov – because there is no Krias Hatorah at Mincha.) However, we say “Va’ani s’filasi…” even when daavening in private. (ShA 1 – MB 1, 2)
- At Mincha, call up three aliyos for Krias Hatorah of the upcoming parsha. It was enacted by Ezra Hasofer. (ShA 1 – MB 3)
- At Mincha of Shabbos and public fasts, never say Kaddish at the bima — wait to say it just before you begin Shemoneh Esray. (MB 4)
- If you have a minyan for Mincha but no sefer Torah, say “Va’ani s’filasi…” before Kaddish. (MB 4)
- Say Tzidkoscha Tzedek for the mitzva of tziduk hadin as the evildoers return to Gehinhom. If Shabbos would have been a day that you would omit Tachanun were it to be a weekday, omit Tzidkoscha as well. (ShA 2 – MB 6)
- There is a minhag to say Pirkay Avos after Mincha. In the winter, say Shir Hamaalos instead. The drasha is held before Mincha. If it goes over time and it is getting dark, you should skip the Pirkay Avos so Shalosh Seudos will be on time. (Rama 2 – MB 9)
- In our many sins there are shuls that people are talking futilities while waiting for Shabbos to be over. To remedy this, a mussar shmuess should be held in shul at this time. (MB 9)
- Delay Maariv later than usual as to prolong the holiness into the weekdays.

- There are three reasons for the beautiful minhag to sing Tehillim 67 and the like just before Maariv:
- To escort the Shabbos Bride with song.
- To delay the exiting of Shabbos all the more.
- To stop people from talking futilities.
The minhag does not apply when Motzo'ay Shabbos is Tisha B’av or Yom Tov. (MB 1)
- The minhag is to extend V’hu Rachum and Borchu using a nice voice in order to prolong the exiting of Shabbos all the more — it brings success.

- Do not do melacha until three small stars can be observed in the sky after no redness is left on the western side of the sky. Some say even Rabaynu Tam agreed to this. If you aren’t sure or the sky is cloudy, wait 72 minutes after shkia. (ShA 2 – MB 4 – BeH “odd”, “sheyayra’u”)
- If it's cloudy, refrain from melacha until you have no doubt left in your heart.
