Here is a list of pleasureful, mundane activities that we are reminded to do l’shaym Shomayim:
Daytime nap.
Eating and drinking.
Walking, sitting down, and standing up.
Relations.
Shmuessing or talking business.
Being in the presence of righteous people. (ShA – MB8)
I have seen men of good deeds who announce before eating “ I want now to eat and drink in order to be healthy and strong for the service of Hashem”. (MB5)
Do not indulge in sleep just for pleasure, you can be learning Torah or doing mitzvos during that time. (ShA)
Even if you are very rich, there is justification to spend effort building a business for the sake of a mitzva: to generate money for tzedoka or chessed causes, or to provide jobs for poor Jews which is the highest level of tzedoka. (MB8)
In general, since Hashem desires the heart’s holy motives, weigh all your activities honestly. When you see that it will lead to the service of Hashem, do it. And if not, do not do it. Someone who follows this rule serves the Creator constantly. (ShA – MB7)
