- It is best to wear a new garment or place down a new fruit for Kiddush on the second night of Rosh Hashana so you can say a Shehecheyonu according to all opinions. The same applies to women lighting candles on the second night. If you have neither, say Shehecheyonu nonetheless. (ShA – MB )
- You shouldn’t eat grapes on Rosh Hashana. (MB )
- If you have a choice of a new wine for Kiddush or old wine, it is always a better mitzvah to use the old wine. (MB )
- L’chatchila, the Baal Tokaya should wear a new garment for his Shehecheyonu on the second day. (MB )
