Siman 300 – Melaveh Malka

  1. There is a mitzva to honor the departure of Shabbos with a meal. This meal is not a requirement as the 3 meals of Shabbos itself. (ShA – MB 2)
  1. You should spread a cloth and set the table for a warm bread meal with meat or some other cooked dish. If you are too full, have some Mezonos or at least some fruit. (MB 1 – ShaH 2)
  1. Hold this meal as soon as possible to the end of Shabbos. If you want to wait to build up an appetite, it is proper not to get involved in melacha (other than for food preparation) before the meal. Whatever the case, it isn’t worthwhile to delay the meal more than midnight. (MB 2 – ShaT 1)
