# Siman 686 – Taanis Esther

וChelek 6

1. The 13th of Adar is a time to be busy buying the needs for Purim. We fast on the 13th of Adar and call it Taanis  Esther in order to recall the fact that Hashem sees and hears the troubles of each Jew when he fasts and does teshuva with all of his heart - as He did in those days. If Purim falls out on Sunday then the fast is preceded to Thursday which is the 11th of Adar. (ShA - MB )
2. Pregnant and nursing women are not obligated in this fast, even if they are feeling well. (MB )
3. When Adar begins, we increase joy. It is an auspicious month to win a court case against a gentile  - so schedule it for now. (MB )
