# Siman 33 – The straps

אChelek 1

1. Your tefillin straps should be kept black like a raven. If the blackness wears away you must blacken them anew. Be especially aware of the blackness of the strap which is tightened in the loop around your arm. (ShA  - MB )

1. You must paint the straps lishma. If you painted the battim not lishma, bedieved you can rely upon those who hold they don’t require lishma. (Rama )
