# Siman 293 – Maariv Motzay Shabbos

גChelek 3

1. Delay Maariv later than usual as to prolong the holiness into the weekdays. (ShA )
2. There are three reasons for the beautiful minhag to sing Tehillim 67 and the like just before Maariv:
   1. To escort the Shabbos Bride with song.
   2. To delay the exiting of Shabbos all the more.
   3. To stop people from talking futilities.

The minhag does not apply when Motzo'ay Shabbos is Tisha B’av or Yom Tov. (MB )
3. The minhag is to extend V’hu Rachum and Borchu using a nice voice in order to prolong the exiting of Shabbos all the more — it brings success. (Rama – ShaT *)
4. Do not do melacha until three small stars can be observed in the sky after no redness is left on the western side of the sky. Some say even Rabaynu Tam agreed to this. If you aren’t sure or the sky is cloudy, wait 72 minutes after shkia. (ShA – MB – BeH “odd”, “sheyayra’u”)
5. If it's cloudy, refrain from melacha until you have no doubt left in your heart. (ShA )
